Liverpool vs Brighton 2019/2020 Preview: Team news and updates, possible lineups, stats, betting tips and predictions
Liverpool welcome Brighton and Hove Albion to Anfield as premier league action resumes this weekend. The Reds were in champions league action midweek, playing a 1-1 draw at home to Napoli on Wednesday night. Liverpool will want to extend their unbeaten streak, a run that has seen them pick up 37 out of a possible 39 points so far this season. Jurgen Klopp and his men are 8 points ahead of Leicester City in second place and 9 points ahead of league champions Manchester City.
Liverpool’s performances in recent weeks have been inconsistent, but they have also found a way to grind out results when necessary as seen in their victory at Crystal Palace last weekend. Finding a way to get those important 3 points even when playing shabbily has been a characteristic of this Liverpool side this season, and one can only wonder if any team can stop this Anfield juggernaut.
Last weekend’s win against crystal palace means that they are unbeaten in 30 games since January 2019 and have picked up 80 points out of a possible 90. The Reds are unbeaten at home in 46 games and are also on a 13 game winning streak at home. Anfield is indeed a fortress and Liverpool will want to keep it that way when Brighton visits.
Brighton are currently on an awful away run and this visit to Anfield could not have come at a worse time. Graham Potter’s side have only managed to pick up 1 point from their last 5 trips away from home. They are currently 12th on the log, with 15 points after 13 games, 12 points less than their opponents. The seagulls have had an encouraging start to the season and while 12th place might seem comfortable, they are only 2 points ahead of West Ham in 17th place. Brighton have not won a league game away from home this season and we don’t see that changing this weekend.
