UEFA Europa League Round of 32 Round Up

Shocking scenes as the round of thirty two fixtures were concluded today. Arsenal, Ajax made up part of the list of big teams to fall out of the tournament. A narrow 1-0 victory away at Olympiacos in the first leg wasn’t enough to see the English club through to the next stage as the Greeks took the second leg fixture to extra time, after two hours of intense football, Olympiacos scaled to the next round on a 2-2 aggregate. Pape Cisse put Olympiacos infront after good work by Valbuena and some dogged defending from the Greeks forced the game into extra time. As the emirates began to get extra tense, Arsenal captain Pierre Emerick Aubameyang equalized in spectacular fashion with an overhead kick to put arsenal in front on aggregate and potentially through to the round of 16 only for El Arabi’s goal in the 120th minute to completely break arsenal hearts and send last year’s finalists crashing out of Europe.

Elsewhere Nigerian striker, Odion Ighalo scores his first goal for Manchester United as they ran out 5-0 winners over Belgian side club Brugge to advance to the next round. Wolves, lost 3-2 on the night but advanced after a first leg win to join the likes of Manchester United, Getafe, Leverkusen, LASK, Turkish side Basaksehir. As Roma also progress into the last 16 winning defeating Gent on aggregate. Sevilla went through on away goals after drawing 0-0 at home to FC CLUJ with a 0-0 score line just enough to see them through. Celtic couldn’t progress after losing 3-1 to Copenhagen in rather disappointing fashion while tournament favorites Internazionale beat Ludogorets 2-0 and 4-1 on aggregate to advance to the next round.
